We love Edinburgh!
Quiet and very central.
The apartment has been fully restored to offer luxury self catering and serviced apartment style accommodation. Occupying the raised ground floor of what was originally a Georgian town house. The accommodation is very spacious and furnished with every modern comfort and facility. The street forms a central part of Edinburgh’s New Town conservation area prized for it’s unspoilt Georgian architecture.
Work or Play.
This is one of the best rentals we have ever had, so perfect that we had to review. Derek has anticipated every need, and the neighbourhood provides the rest. Stockbridge area has wine and food shops, bakeries, etc. Very easy walk to pretty much anywhere in Edinburgh, cabs also readily available. House is warm and cozy, and the fireplace will tempt you to stay in on chilly evenings, or greet you when you return from dinner. Bed and bedding were great, and robes were another nice touch. Highly highly recommended!John Scott - USA March 2019
Derek offers a splendid rental experience. As a host, he is considerate and responsive, and goes out of his way to adapt to some specific needs when he can. He shows great attention to detail, providing things such as a bespoke map and nicely-presented instructions to the flat in a bound book. The apartment could not have been any cleaner; it was like brand new. As one can see in the pictures, the flat has classy modern furnishings which counterpoint the classic indoor architecture, tying the place together with a chic feel. This is visible in multiple details throughout, from the decorative throw blankets all the way to the matching sets of tableware. The linens and towels were also top notch. You can see that great care and thought has been given to every aspect of the apartment. All appliances worked quite nicely (central heating, laundry washer, dishwasher). The shower was also as amazing as it looks (and the pressure is quite nice on the wall unit). The location is also wonderful. The apartment is on a residential street, close to a nice coffee shop, small supermarket and cool restaurants in New Town, a short walk from the centre. It was an all round lovely stay and I will definitely try to come back to Derek’s flat if I can, without hesitation. Nicole Galant - Canada February 2019
This has to be, simply, the most spectacular Airbnb I've ever rented (and I've rented some wonderful properties). If anything, the photos don't do the apartment justice. It has been restored with tremendous attention to craftmanship and detail. Although it is a 1BR, it is enormous, and the ceilings very high. Great sense of space. The décor is tasteful *and* comfort-oriented. The bed is huge, with glorious quality linens, very hard to leave it in the morning! The bath towels are large and plush. The twin bathroom sinks are lighted; there is a powerful hair dryer (and an iron with full-size table in the bedroom). Although I didn't cook, the state of the art kitchen is *fully* equipped--down to the garlic press and full-quality knives and pots/pans. And I did use the dishwasher and clothes washer! Everything is very high-quality and spotless: glasses, plates, silverware... This is usually what holiday rentals lack, so it was a pleasant surprise. Derek was tremendously attentive: he carefully explained how everything works, and had many suggestions for entertainment in Edinburgh. And checked in to make sure everything was going well during my stay. The apartment's location is wonderful: a quaint and quiet street, but convenient to both Old Town and Stockbridge/Dean areas. My favorite thing: sitting by the (gas) fire in the evening after a long day of touring the city. Priceless! I definitely want to return to Edinburgh soon, and stay here again. This was a luxury hotel experience, for a very reasonable price.Wadda Rios Font, New York - Guest December
