Edinburgh gunmaker Daniel Ross purchased the fountain in 1862 and subsequently gifted it to the city of Edinburgh. Named the Ross Fountain it was created by Parisian artists, featuring a number of mermaids and four figures representing the Arts, Science, Poetry and Industry. The fountain was carefully dismantled piece by piece and sent for specialist restoration, now being reinstalled in Princes Street Gardens it looks amazing.
