Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Held in August, the event joins Edinburgh’s Festival list. The first Tattoo in Edinburgh was entitled “Something About a Soldier” and took place at the Ross Bandstand at Princes Street Gardens in 1949. Known throughout the world the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, it is televised in 30 countries and a further 100 million people see the event on television worldwide but nothing compares to the sheer spectacle and atmosphere experienced at the live event. Marvel at the precision of some of the world’s best military displays, the rousing sounds of the massed pipes and drums and a full programme of music and dance from across the globe. This Iconic event set against the magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle is not be missed, but a word of advice, as this event is hosted in the open in the evening. Check the weather and bring a jacket as it can get cold in the seating stands.
